The government has been aware of the terrorist threat of wilfires since around 2012. But, so many of my neighbors in Nor Cal mountains look at me like I've grown a second head if I mention it. Here's a video from 2014 discussing this threat.
Excellent. Having been through this before, I can affirm the importance of drilling for a five minute departure. We spoke with some who had less than that. Also, we used our Baofengs to scan the spectrum, and picked up a lot of firefighters who were conducting burnout operations. For those unfamiliar, these operations sometimes burn more acres than the original fire.
Finally, the 2m ham and ARES played a crucial role in our evacuation.
I agree, documenting acts of arson should be a high priority, including uniformed arsonist, unfortunately.
